It's always cheaper to buy speedups with biocaps from the VIP store than using biocaps for construction directly. I don't run into the situation where I'm about to go to bed with a construction task ending, I always take the time to plan out my construction so they end before bedtime (same with research, and even easier with troop training). Read my top-level comment for how I spend them. Time is the only real limiting factor in the game so speeding it up is the quickest way to progress. Anything that can be bought with time can also be bought with bio caps. I probably make almost 500 biocaps a day on the alliance packs alone that get sent. I leveled up pretty quick, at least I think so, and that got me into a high level Alliance quicker.

I'm also almost an HQ 25 after very little game play and almost no money spent. Not only that, when you time the construction with a power Sprint event, now you can make back a bunch of those biocaps from doing well in the event.

If I can end the current one and get a new one started before bed then I gain more hours than just the ones spent on the biocaps. when I'm asleep, then there's potentially 7 hours of time not building. If I have a construction project that ends at 11 p.m. Personally, I think that well-timed construction speed UPS mean a lot more than just the hours you get.
